Friday night we had our

Friday night we had our movie night and watched LOTR-Return of the King.......GREAT MOVIE!!! It did not feel like a 3+ hour movie, unlike the one i saw last night..... Saturday night Keith and i had a night out..just the 2 of us...and we had decided to see TROY..being the history buffs that we are...BIG MISTAKE! This was one of the worst films ever put on..., well,... film! I cannot believe that i willingly parted with 23$ to see a 3 hour movie when i had already seen all of the best parts of the film on the commercials....They seemed to have been trying to make an epic film...BEN HUR style...BUT THEY FAILED! Brad Pitt..although lovely to look at...is NOT... CHARLETON HESTON, and attempting to use him in a Heston type role..and film...just was not pretty! The writting was bad, the acting was bad..the costumes and sets were good...and some of the fight scenes were ok too..but on the whole........WHAT A WASTE OF TIME.....Keith says that it wasn't a waste because we got to see a movie that wasn't animated..but i was still bummed....So off to find a place to eat and drown my sorrows....and we found it..a great little place just a few blocks from the house..OZWALDS.....they make great martini's.....i know this cause i had 3 of them to help me forget the movie...and they cooked my black Angus steak just perfect ( still mooing!) They have a baby grand in the corner and a lady who plays there every Thurs-Sun...so i can't wait to go down and hear her some more!

If you read my comments then you will have seen Jaime post that we no longer have to do midnights....actually we do have 2 nights of them, but thats ok..i can live with 2! The new girl who joined our little office wanted permanent midnights ( why i have no idea!) so we now don't have to deal with them on a regular basis! WOO WOO WOO!!!!!!!!!! ( i am doing the snoopy happy dance!) That is one shift i could do without!

I saw the trailer for the new King Arthur movie coming out this summer...can't wait to see it..i don't recognize any of the stars in it..so it might be half decent!
Also a movie called DeLovely...some sort of musical......must look into that one!

Sunday afternoon we spent in the back yard, trying to dig out the roses of sharron bushes..or at least i thought they were bushes.....until i got to the trunk....it was the size of my thighs..( and for those who don't know...i have large thighs....) I could not get the darn things out of the ground! SO i drilled holes into the trunks and poured salt into them..i am told that this should kill them and make it MUCH easier to remove them...which is good because they are hampering my planting!!!

Also..Keith and I finally bought a bed!!
Yes i will no longer have to sleep on the couch...it is being delivered next Saturday.....i can't wait.....and i am off that night so i can actually sleep in it!

Thunder rolls in the distance so i had best turn off this machine.....storms are supposed to be making an appearance again over night.....Happy Memorial Day to all of my American Friends!

Weather today...grey and raining (

Weather today...grey and raining ( although i didn't actually see the rain, the ground is wet again..so one presumes....) A day off..isn't it a wonderful thing..i should be catching up on all of the things that i haven't done in the last few days...but am feeling a little lazy..ok tired, cause i went and played bingo at 2am with my friend Ray.......we won squat, but had a nice time anyways, listening to the caller with the golden voice......Ray can't sit and watch him because he gets flustered.....

Vacation time is coming up and apparently everyone in the office wants the same time off, so for the first time in 11 yrs i will not be having my vacation when i usually do. Seems strange..i understand why, others are going away and i am just going to spend time with my children.....So i booked off the following week......It will also be the first time i have ever worked on Munch's birthday...I know its not a big deal to some, but it is to me......that and the Canada Day Parade.....but the up side is that where ever we go for our vacation it may not be as busy.....
I'm not upset, just a little bummed..i'll get over it......

Interesting that the Canadian Gov't is really trying to push the young vote here for our elections......apparently they have just realized that no one cares about politics in that generation.....HELLO......they are just figuring that out now? They need to take a look at every ones voting habits, as the voting turnout has always been pitifull. For those of you who were reading me last year during our provincial and municipal elections you know i have some strong views on the lack of political awareness in our society......Its really hard to sell politics to any one when as of late there hasn't been anything GOOD to talk about..scandals, taxes, changes to health care......no wonder the youth of today doesn't care.......
For the first time in my voting history i am at a cross roads...i have always supported one particular party.....canvassed for them, was on the executive board for one of their youth groups.....proudly displayed signs......and the list goes on..BUT this year i am beginning to re think my vote this time......Keith is amazed that we don't already have lawn signs up out front, but i am not sure.......I have to do a little research......

Ok..enough of this sitting around..I'm off to run some errands before the next wave of rain hits...try to stay dry where ever you are......

Hi my name is Kim

Hi my name is Kim and i have a problem.....I can't stay off of eBay to save my life...and now that i have shown Keith how to buy on there....we are doomed! Now at least i am not on there looking at junk..although some people may beg to differ: I am hunting for Hepburn memorabilia....If you have been reading me for a while, you know i was born in the wrong decade......i love the old entertainers..thats really what they were....I love the way the woman looked like women, and the men treated them as such......the wanton lust and passion that you could see as Bogart took that kiss from Hepburn in THE AFRICAN QUEEN....the flowing dresses of GONE WITH THE WIND ( OK, I could do without the corsets!)...the music of WHITE CHRISTMAS or SINGING IN THE RAIN....the humour of ADAMS RIB or PHILADELPHIA STORY......

Anyways...sorry i went off on a run there.....so where was i....oh yeah...So i am bidding on an autographed picture of Hepburn, and someone else really wants it...we are having a bidding war..and there is still 2 more days left on the bid....I must win!!!!! This will be my last purchase for a while..since i have to explain to Keith why we are going to be eating Macaroni and cheese for a while if i win........

I was going to blog about how nice it was to see the sun today...but mother nature must have read my thoughts, because the sun that made its way to us this morning is gone now..replaced by ominous grey clouds yet again......i shouldn't complain..there are many other people who are having a worse time weather wise than we are but come on.....enough is enough....

I'm off Friday night so we have decided that we are going to have a movie night...maybe invite friends over..you know...do the grown up thing again.....LOTR is out on DVD so maybe that will be the movie of choice..since there isn't really anything else i am waiting to see..except TROY, and maybe we'll go see that Sat, night ( yes, i'm on days on Saturday so 2 Sat. nights off in a row!! Pigs are getting ready to fly as we speak!)

Funny, I always considered myself

Funny, I always considered myself more like Katherine........Hmmmmm

YOU ARE AUDREY HEPBURN
WORSHIP! You're inner Bombshell is the beautiful
Audrey Hepburn. Like her you've been blessed
with a "certain something" that no
one could describe accurately. You are more
reserved than other bombshells, and that shows
in your gentle, graceful nature. You like doing
things for other people and love volunteering
for your favorite charity. Yours is a rare gift
in this day and age. You don't need to show a
lot of skin to be sexy, all you need is your
eyes. To see Audrey at the top of her game
watch the movie "Breakfast at
Tiffanys".

Who is your inner bombshell?

Thanks to Patrick for this one.......

So this is how people

So this is how people with "normal" jobs spend time! Boy I could get used to this....Saturday mornings ball game was called off on acount of the field resembling a small lake, so since we were all up, we went Yard Saleing!! We spent the day out in the county, searching through other people's junk, to see if it would fit in with our junk! Keith and I used to do this with Nana and Papa all the time; Nana could always find the best yard sales and the best junk! So it is something that Keith and I are passing on to our kids...the art of finding good junk....Keith bought a full Mechano set, 30$ and we figured to buy it in a store it would have cost us 200, so not a bad day!

Then off to pick up some summer clothes for the kids....funny, you water them and feed them and they grow like weeds...too bad it didn't work that way for my plants.....New clothes for Hubby too! I am trying to get him to dress like a grown up..ok i would settle for him just leaving the 80's....So it was new shirts and "dad" shorts for him.....now if i could just get the old t-shirts out of the house without him having a fit....I don't know why he has this thing about t shirts...he never throws them out..and i mean never...some of the ones he has Munch can wear....and others are so thin that you can see right through them...but they all hold special meaning to him so i guess i'll just have to find a spot for them..in a box..in the basement...

After outfitting the family in summer gear it was off to pick up stuff for BBQ dinner...and while i was in the store...whose pictures do i see on the newstands by the door....MY KIDS! I am not used to seeing them on the cover yet, and i get the greatest feeling of "MOM-NESS" as i see those bright smiling faces......

Munch was off having a sleepover, and with Bug in bed, it was time for the grownups to have some fun.... Shelley and her hubby came over and we stayed up till the wee hours of the morning playing Trivial Pursuit.. ..Its funny how the strangest of words can send four intellegent adults into crying hysterics...did you know that the Narwhal appears on the Nunavut coat of arms?...We do now...and it was that word that sent us all off into a bout of laughter that i am sure woke up the neighbours!

Its back to work this afternoon...but not before i update my resume and send a few out to some interesting jobs i have heard about.....maybe i'll be the next one to escape the prison...........

****You will note that Hubby has now got a name...i figured it was easier to call him by his real name.....not that he hasn't been called many other things in his lifetime!!!..........

Hubby and i went to

Hubby and i went to our Captains Rally last night for the Canadian Cancer's RELAY FOR LIFE . What a great night...great people, inspriations talks and free food ( It wa held at one of the italian centers here, and hubby loves italian)....They are still lokking for more teams, so if you are in the WIndsor area and want to participate, click on the link, or email me and i can ook you up with the co-ordinator..... Munch's teacher is letting him bring in a donation jar to keep in the class. so the class can pledge him for the relay....we were discussiong what to do with Bug for the night ( the relay is from 7pm to 7am) I want her to come...but hubby doesn't like the idea of having to chase her all night...i think that she will tire herself out and nap through the night...jury is still out on that one.... You can pledge on line..if you want to...just click on the Relay link above and follow the instructions.... the team name is YOU GOTTA HAVE FAITH.....OR EMAIL ME AND WE CAN SORT OUT THE DETAILS.....

In other news.....Its good bye and Good Luck for my friend and co-worker "D". She starts a new job today, and although i will miss her, i am envious that she got out!! She is going to have a life, working day time and weekends off.....I'm gonna miss you!!! ( You know where to find us....and you better still call and visit!)

Junes issue of Windsor Parent came out and the kids cover pic looks awesome!!!! ( ok i have a biased opinion, but hey, a mom gets to brag right?) Copies are on the way to grandparents!

Off to try and do something constructive with the day...i can't believe that i have tomorrow off..a SATURDAY OFF!!!!!!!....and yes, they are calling for rain...NOW there's a surprise!

Well so much for being

Well so much for being off work until Fri. I took a shift last night..what the heck, i wasn't doing anything anyways so i might as well make some money. But i did end up missing something...Munch's first ever t-ball game. Now Munch is not a sports type of kid, never has been, but we decided for him that he would play t-ball this year...only to have us take it away as a punishment....so we thought by this time it was too late to get him in...but it helps to know someone involved in the team ( thanks Shelley). He loved it.....this kid can't throw or catch ( remember he will be 9 next month) but he now loves the game! the excitement in his voice when i called him from work was wonderful...the same way he gets when he gets a new Lego set, or finds a great history show..( i told you he's not a sportsy kid right?) And i missed it. I know that i will miss lots of things that my kids do, but this was different..this was my boy being, well, a boy....and i got to hear about it over the phone.

Bug, was pissed off ( temper tantrum that was off the scale) because she is too young to play...nothing i could do would help mend her little heart.....but i did tell her she could be the official cheerer, and it calmed her down a bit, knowing she would be allowed to yell without getting into trouble for it!

The Liberal gov't brought out its new budget on Tues.....argued with hubby about it this morning...they have reinstitued the OHIP premiums..based on income...I for one, although not pleased about having to pay for services that should be my right as a citizen, recognize the monetary gains that this would give the health care system..and we all know that it could use a big boost in the wallet....if i have to pay $ 12 each check so that someone has less waiting time for MRI's or CAT scans then so be it....there are too many people dying because they have to wait for services...and if my measely premium will help cut down the wait.....then i'll gladly pay...it could be worse, we could have to pay like our American friends do......

Sin taxes are going up...what else is new....it really is time for Hubby and i to quit smoking.....but i'm not ready yet.....i know all of the evil things that come of smoking...watched my MIL die from cancer, yet i just am not at the quitting point yet.....hope i find it soon...

Education also got a boost...capped classroom size for classes up to Grade 3...only 20 kids per class.....its about time..maybe then teachers can spend the time with the students and we will see more kids reading and doing their 'rithmatic....not to mention the jobs it will create...having to hire all of those teachers....

Off to watch the season ending of West Wing..Hubby taped it for me..see what i miss when i work?

Wow, did that week just

Wow, did that week just drag or what? That's what happens on the midnight shift..and i swear it seems like that shift is coming faster and faster..... Finally got to see the pics from the kids photo shoot ( from the magazine cover)..boy i have cute kids....yes thats just my opinion ....looking at the pics i don't remember Munch being that tall or looking that grown up... The photographer did a great job in capturing their personalities on film....it really is an art form, photogaphing kids.

The storm season is upon us, and thunder storms seem to be a daily occurance lately...we have taken to sitting on our porch and watching the storms move..kind of a therapy for Bug, who is a little afraid of storms...she is getting better, and takes great pride in telling you how thunder won't hurt you because its just cold and warm air banging into each other.....( yes this is her magic talisman...)..over and over again through the storm.....

Hubby has a new name in the neighbourhood...the kids call him Mr Dude....while out playing hide and go seek with the neighbourhood rat pack, they decided he was too cool to call him MR WILSON.....great, like i need to keep track of yet another kid in this house!!!

Shelley was nice enough to let me know that the green stuff that is growing in my front garden is not, as i thought, weeds, but real plants..glad she told me 'cause they were destined for the garbage pile....that's one of the problems of moving in in the winter..you don't know what will come up in the gardens come spring.... not that it matters since all it wants to do here is rain..i'll never get out to plant if the weather doesn't let up!

Munch is going through his Provincial testing ( grade 3)...he is worried about not doing good enough...i know he'll do fine..he is a bright kid..but gets hard on himself..hmmmm wonder who he gets that from???

Off to try and get something garden-like done before the rain hits..( yep again today...more rain!)

I am once again working

I am once again working on my poetry blog, but this time i will make sure that a certain 3 yr old daughter doesn't dump the file into the trash! Talk about frustrating! Work went well, although apparently they have hired someone new into management...she will be working at our hall to help with vacations and stuff...hmmmm...wonder if that means that we might actually see a few wekends off? Doubtful! Or maybe they are getting ready to let someone go?? That is much more probable ( although no one really wants to work in our hall with all of the crazy hours that we have..) I cut a bunch of Lilacs and brought them into the house..the smell has permeated the whole house! Too bad they don't last very long....Jo came and took away some of the rose bushes in the back, so a few less things to get rid of..I am not fond of roses, never have been and these are old neglected bushes, so i like them even less....can't wait to get out there and plant something!

If you want to look at what i have done on the new site.. keep in mind that there isn't much there yet, but check back often as i get all of my stuff on there....
Random Ramblings From the Quill
....someday you all will be able to say you knew me when....yeah right!

Its Papa's 84th birthday today, although we are going to have family cake and stuff on Sunday when everyone can come over.....He doesn't like a fuss being made over his day, but i think it is one of the most important family days we have! Without him none of us would be here.....So

HAPPY BIRTHDAY IAIN (JOHN) WILLIAM WHITAKKER WILSON
