Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens..

These are a few of my favourite things!
No i haven't crawled off the face of the earth, but did you know that there are only SIX days until Christmas????
I have finally started my shopping, and work is extremely busy....any spare moments have been filled with wrapping and working. When i am not busy with those things, i have been at the hospital visiting a friend who has run into some heath issues again!
My friend Jeff, who i have talked about before has been in the hospital for a month now, and he is hoping to go home for Christmas. He gets pretty bored up just laying around in the hospital, so i have been going up to keep him company. He was scheduled to have heart surgery, but they seemed to have changed their minds, so hopefully he will be able to go home soon!

Still no snow, and the weatherman doesn't seem to be helping, so it looks like a green Christmas for the folks here in Wilsonworld.
The nice thing is that there hasn't been much rain, so basements have been dry.

We have had Christmas with my Dad, and this Friday we will have Christmas with my Mom.
Who said Christmas only happens once a year. In our family its a week long holiday!

Keith will be on shut down, which is good, since i am about to become really BUSY at work, and we still have shopping to do.

Just wanted to let you guys know that i am still around...I haven't had time to read or write anything, but i thought i should pop on here before people wonder where i had gone to.

Off to bed...I have to work at 5am.

The tree whisperer...(with apologies to Monty Roberts)

In the past, I have told you about how we pick a Christmas tree. It is along the same lines as picking a pumpkin for Halloween, with the pumpkin, or tree "talking" to me.
It usually involves a really long process of walking around, listening to the trees, waiting for one to "talk" to me. It really does. It tells me how wonderful the decorations will look on its branches; how the angel will look...well...angelic on the top of its gentle boughs. It also usually requires my children whining because Mommy won't just pick a tree.

This year, it took all of 20 minutes.

I could hear it as we stepped from the car, and walked in to the lot, having this year ditched the whole going to the county tree farm and cutting down our own tree. See, it has been warm here again, and the ground is a mess. And traipsing through the mud is not half as fun as traipsing through the snow....
So we went to a local Christmas tree lot.

And i heard it calling me from the car.

We walked into the lot and we decided on a short needled tree.
I turned down the row of trees, and like a beacon in the night, it was there.
Calling my name.

Kim...come to me.
Come see how strong my branches are.
The lights will nestle nicely on my branches, and they are stong enough that none of your grandmothers ornaments will fall this year.

I am not too full, I am just the right height, and i will fit into the hall corner without you having to worry about taking out the tree when you round the corner.

And it was right.

I went right to it..and Munch said...Is it talking to you Mom?

Bug quickly informed him that trees do not talk.
And he corrected her.
They may not talk to you Bug....but trees talk to Mom. And she can talk back.

She stood there looking at him...not knowing whether or not to believe him...since the dawn of time big brothers have been telling their little sisters tall tales.

Buit he was right.

It is a gift. One that i inheritied from my parents.
They can talk to holiday icons too.

And so, from the first lot, with virtually no discussion...Wilsonworld got their tree for Christmas 2006.

It stand now in the front hallway, lights aready hung.
We are taking a few days to decorate it, since this is Lord Stanley's first Christmas tree, and if he decides to climb the tree i would rather just lose the lights, as opposed to all of the heirloom decorations.

But is isn't talking to me anymore.

It is a proud tree.
A beautiful tree.

It is singing.

I'm dreaming of a ...

You know the song...everyone sing along........

WHITE CHRISTMAS!!

It snowed here finally, although it was only a little bit, it was enough to get me feeling a little more in the mood!

I want to know how i reaised a daughter who is so ANAL about forms.
The school sent home a form for me to fill out so the kids could attend mass at the church, instead of at the school the way they usually do. the form has to be in for Thursday. I made the mistake of telling Bug that i didn't know where the form was at the moment she asked me about it, but i would find it and sign it for her. She took this as "Mommy lost the form and now i am going to not be able to go with the rest of the school."

So bedtime comes and we do the routine thing and its off to sleep for Bug...RIGHT?
WRONG!
She can't sleep, and is up there crying.
Keith goes to find out what the problem is, only to hear the whole "Mommy lost my form and now i am going to be in trouble" story....OMG!!!!!

I never said i couldn't find it...just that at THAT moment it wasn't within arms reach!

I went and found the form (which by the way was in my office) and signed and put it with her agenda for morning. I went upstairs and told her that it was ready for her, and it was with her school things...and 5 minutes later she was sleeping!!!!!

She had been crying and obsessing over the form for 1/2 an hour.

WHERE DOES SHE GET IT FROM???????

She had a good first day with her new glasses, and when one of her friends told her she looked smart in them..she said...DON"T YOU MEAN SMARTER? I AM ALREADY SMART.

See what i mean?
I am in soooo much trouble when she gets older!

No headaches for Munch for over a week now...says its much better reading with his new prescription.
Tonight he was trying to read Macbeth (his cousin forgot his copy at our house) and so Keith and i gave him some of the old shakespeare comic books that we had. He went to bed reading the Tempest.

Blogging for Books topic is up at Zero Boss. Go check it out.
Might do this one.... but i'd love to see KIM do it....

Off to bed...4:30 comes early!

22 Days and counting

Yep, 22 days until the guy in the red suit comes a visiting!
Now if we could only have some snow to help me get in the mood....

Bug's parties were a big success, and fun was had by all. So now i can start getting into the holiday spirit. I find it hard now to be as excitied as i used to be about Christmas. I don't want to think about it until Bug's birthday is done, and then i feel all rushed because i think i don't have enough time to find the perfect gifts.

Nano is done....and i hit 31000. I didn't finish, but i got farther than i have ever gotten before, so that has to count for something right? I have 31K of crap, but its my crap, and it'll get filed away until i decide what i am going to do with it.

Possible flurries tomorrow, so maybe that'll help get me in the mood.
Or maybe i'll watch WHITE CHRISTMAS. That always helps.

At least it can't hurt.

Things you should look at...NOW!
