Last day of the year. I will be spending it at work, and then hanging out with the family to see the old year fade away. This is one year that I am glad to see done. It did have its moments but for the most part it is time for this year to be the year that was.....here is a snapshot of what this year was like for us here in Wilsonworld.
January
- saw me still in school, getting decent grades (solid B's) for the first semester, and readying for the 2nd semester.
- Good news from Papa's oncologist, the radiation seemed to have worked and the tumours have shrunk.
- a multitude of sniffles and colds, garden variety type.
- a look back to when I was younger...pictures from my youth. Jeri had asked us to share photos and the UCF as always came through.
- I did a lot of memes and fluff, since I was heavily into the classes.
- Good thing it was a short month!
- I ticked off a "wordy" guy with my class presentation on Orwell and the concept of Newspeak. (which is ok, since I got an A for the presentation)
- One of my dear UCF friends lost her husband.
- Odyssey of The Mind was in full swing, with rehearsals and the Regional Competition. (Where we were invited to take place at the World Finals!)
- I had my last University Class and started in on exams. They were brutal!
- Easter! WIth all of its chocolatey goodness.
- A serious post on what comes next....
- Keith and I celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary.
- Man-Child went off to a Leadership Camp
- I started my fundraising for my trip to the World Finals in Iowa
- Papa's test results showed that the cancer had not spread!
- I announced that I would be willing to make a fool of myself for money...singing the Oscar Mayer Wiener song.
- Man-Child foiled a bike thief who thought that Man'-Child's bike was just there for the taking
- More with the fundraising- lots of car washes and pasta dinners!
- Mother's Day
- I reached my personal goal to the tune of 760$ donated to hear me sing the Wiener song!
- We took the kids to the Detroit Zoo..and had a wonderful time.
- I left on an adventure! Odyssey of The Mind World Finals in Iowa.
- Lots of video of me singing the wiener song....had a blast in Iowa
- Man-Child graduated from grade school..off to high school in the fall. They grow so fast..sniff sniff.
- Busy with doctor appointments and Papa. Still not as well as he should be.
- Canada Day!!
- Man-Child turned 14. Yikes!!!!
- Bug went off to camp
- Papa is put on oxygen and is not doing well.
- Papa has a stroke July 19th
- John "Papa" William Wilson passed away, July 24th.
- The rest of the month is a blur.
- Papa's Memorial Service, and Wake.
- Bug headed off to camp again, in an attempt to bring normal back to our home.
- Man-Child headed off with my Dad in his Big Rig....they went to British Columbia, California, Montreal and ALL points in between.
- I had my GSO 09 with my old University Roomies.
- Kids headed back to school
- We started to make the basement "ours" instead of "his"
- I noticed that my children are GROWING!
- My friend Ian started on his own journey... taking his show The Hero Inside across the country on a giant road trip.
- Keith had a birthday. He got old.
- Other members of the village got old too, as this is the month of birthdays for us!
- I began to try and sort out what I was supposed to be/do with my life. I went on retreat and relaxed for the first time in a long time.
- Thanksgiving weekend brought new memories and I counted my blessings....the good food didn't hurt either!
- I GRADUATED FROM UNIVERSITY!!!! (although of course in a unique way)
- Halloween hit Wilsonworld-we were busy decorating and scheming. We love this holiday!
- NANO fever hits the house. Both Bug and I settle in to write the next great novels! Neither of us finish, but it was a valiant effort.
- More sickness as one by one the house falls to the flu. I do not catch it, but I do spend my time playing nursemaid.
- Remembrance Day is much harder this year.
- The anniversary of Faith passing away, she has been gone for 7 years. It seems like only yesterday.
- I got a JOB! 13 months of looking, but I am finally back to work!
- Bug has a birthday and turns NINE. My babies are a growing.
- We celebrate another village birthday, this time a masquarade ball.
- Bug and I go to see Little House on The Prairie the Musical at the Fox Theatre.
- We decided to teach the children about the movies of the past, and so we started a Movie Night, where we choose from a list that Keith and I have made...classic films that the children should see.
- We picked out tree and decked out the house
- Bug decides that she wants to audition for a local theater group. this makes me appreciate what my own parents went through all those years ago.
- We had our Village Christmas Gathering, with our neighbours and friends. There was music and food and happiness.
- CHRISTMAS! Santa was good to us, and we count our blessings and are thankful for all of those who are close to us.
- Clan Gathering for Christmas Day. More good food, ale, and happiness.
- Trips to London to visit family and friends
- I had to go back to work, while the rest of the Wilsonworld clan enjoyed their holiday week.
- But there was BREAD- a brand new Bread Maker has made its home here and we are making it earn its keep!
So a Year in Review. While it may not mean much to most, it is a record of what was. Of how in a bad year, we had each other and made it through. Goodbye 2009.....don't let the door hit you on the way out!
Welcome to the world 2010, may you make us proud!
Have a safe and Happy New Year!
