We have all been a little overwhelmed with bad news on the TV, Radio and in "meat-space". Jeri had a great idea to give us all a little smile and to brighten up even the dullest of days....Post old pics of yourself..you know...your younger, more awkward self..and the UCF came through.
Well, since we are now into February, the most depressing month of the year..add to that all of the damn rodents of the day seemed to have conspired together to doom us to more winter..
I present to you..
ME.
(now I don't have a lot of younger pictures, so you will have to make due with what I could find...I am sure that they will provide some smiles to someone)
My Dad and I, probably 1969 having cotton candy at the Western Fair in London Ontario.
My parents had a kennel, and showed dogs for years..This was my dog, Whynot, shown here winning Best of Breed at the Specialty Show in 1978. This was a REALLY BIG DEAL. I spent a lot of time as a child living out of trailers as we traveled showing the dogs.(I was 10 1/2 here)
Grade 7 so I was um..12? Hanging out being silly at my neighbour's farm. They had a pool which back then out there was a HUGE deal. (I might have been in grade 8..those few years run together)
Halloween 1980. Not sure what we were supposed to be, but I do know that it was the last year we went Trick-or-treating. I am in the red visor. Wow, I was almost 13 here.
Can you find me? This was the preppy/don't know what i want my hair to do phase. At least in this picture it is all one colour. It is growing back in on both sides, as at one point it was shaved on the one side, long on the other. I was active in youth politics..guessing this is around 1984-85.
Grade 13, the first time. (yes I did an extra year of high school, and I was not an athlete. It was common for the football players to come back for an extra year) So I am guessing this is 1985-86.
Still showing dogs, but this one was all mine. Her name was Bridglea's Subtle Elegance, but we called her Ami-dog. She was a dream to show and a wonderful companion. IF Keith wasn't allergic to hounds, I would have another one in a minute. This is 1986 and the last year that I actively showed dogs with my parents. This day is probably one of the proudest memories that I have from all of the years showing dogs...and I did it on my own, with my own hound.
Welcome to University Residence living! This was frosh week, and I really do not remember much of it, although in this picture I do remember we were dressed up like the California raisins. Yes we are wearing garbage bags, no we are not sober. That is about all I can tell you. This is fall 1987.
BRAINNNNZZZZ! Halloween 1987. Residence. Glass of wine. Zombie student. Couldn't tell you much after the picture was taken, but I am sure it included more wine, or beer, or whatever was in the garbage pails. (what? that was where we stored our "spirits". We were students...what do you want?)
A stress head. A stupid bow. What the hell was I thinking? Oh, that's right, I was in residence. I wasn't thinking that year. Why my friends EVER let me wear that stupid thing in my hair I will never know. (it might have had something to do with the wine/beer/whatever.) This was 1st year I think, so 1987-88 school year.
SO there you have it.
A reason to smile, or laugh, or at least ignore all of the bad news that we are being forced fed by all of the media.
Wanna play along?
Come on...I showed you mine...show me yours!
Yeah pictures! I like the zombie queen one, very nice - has Bug seen it? :)

Those are some great pictures. Pictures of me are almost non-existant, but I'm gonna try and find some to do this as well.

I love the cotton candy picture--it's almost as big as you are, and you look both shocked and delighted!

For obvious reasons Kim kept some of these private until after we were married.
I like the hair though.

I laughed at the cotton candy pic -- it is almost as big as you! Thank goodness I don't have a blog, so my pictures will remain unshown... :-)
